Speaking in June 2021 at the online symposium, Advances in Proteomics & Metabolomics, Dr. Genevieve Van de Bittner, R&D Researcher at Agilent Research Laboratories, presented her talk on metabolic rate measurements using Seahorse technologies XF and LC/MS.
Abstract: Alterations in metabolic flux have been linked to a wide variety of cellular processes, from cancer development to T cell activation during immunotherapy or infection. This conference will cover two complementary technologies for measuring metabolic flux, Seahorse XF analyzers and qualitative analysis of fluxes by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Both technologies provide important insight into the rates of metabolic reactions within cells, with Seahorse XF measurements providing cellular resolution and qualitative LC/MS flow measurements providing molecular resolution. This presentation will highlight vignettes of combined Seahorse XF and LC/MS qualitative flux analyzes that provide a comprehensive view of metabolic changes in adipocytes during cold temperature adaptation as well as various metabolic flux dependencies found in different lineages. cancer cells, including methods to target these metabolic dependencies.
We hope that during this session, you:
- Familiarize yourself with metabolic rate measurements available to users of Seahorse XF and LC/MS technologies.
- Understand the biological information that can be obtained through the combination of Seahorse XF and LC/MS measurements.
