Recent hires in Asia were made by Allen & Gldehill; Watson Farley and Williams; and Norton Rose Fulbright


Singaporean firm Allen & Gledhill has appointed former JP Morgan deputy general counsel Eng Cher Goh as the new co-head of the private wealth management firm.

Goh advises in the areas of trusts, private wealth and taxation. His advice covers the transfer of trusted books internationally, the establishment of complex fiduciary structures for very wealthy families and contentious issues involving trusted parties. She also has experience in advising on regulatory compliance.

At JP Morgan, Goh was Deputy General Counsel and Executive Director. She worked for the investment bank for over a decade, based mostly in the Hong Kong and New York offices. She returned to Singapore in 2019.

Prior to joining JP Morgan in 2011, Goh was a partner at Rajah & Tann. She was previously a partner at Drew & Napier and Baker & McKenzie in Singapore.

Hong Kong

Watson Farley & Williams has added a new consultant to its Hong Kong office.

Jonathan Silver specializes in ship finance, ship rental finance, sale and purchase and other commercial shipping contracts. He also advises on general banking and financial operations, working capital loans, syndicated and bilateral loans, structured trading and commodity finance, and debt capital markets.

Silver joins the company from Maples, where he was a partner and head of the company’s Asian shipping practice. He joined Maples in 2019 from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a partner and responsible for the company’s North Asian shipping practice. Silver was previously a partner with local Hong Kong company Howse Williams Bowers before leaving in 2014.

Norton Rose Fulbright hired Jerry Li as a partner in Beijing.

Li specializes in energy and infrastructure projects, advising energy, oil and gas, power, financial and renewables, and infrastructure companies on corporate, financing, regulatory and compliance matters.

Li joined the firm from Hunton Andrews Kurth, where he was a partner.
